The Davis Funeral The funeral of ox-Chief of Polioe Jacob Davis took place this afternoon from his lato residence on South West street. The larg attendance showed tho esteem in which the decoased was held by the citizens and many of thoso in attendance, soino of whom had but a comparatively slight acquaintance with him, seemed as much affected when the last rites were being performed as some of th immediate friends and relatives. All the borough officials and many of the ex-officials were present to pay their last respects to the popular officer whose existanoe had been so suddenly cut off by tbo terrible mine acol dent of Tuesday lost, and a large number of the members of Shenandoah Valley Encamp ment and Shenandoah Lodge, No. SSI, I, O. F were in attendance to honor the memory of their honored and popular past officer. It was one of the most impressive gathering seen f jr sometime and expression of eorrov over the ox -chief 'a death and sympathy for the affilcted wife and children wero heard continually while the attendants were waiting for the funeral to "taove. The services were held at the family residence and tho remains were interred in the Odd Fellows' cemetery. The pall bearers were Jeffrey Williams, Edwin R. Williams, Justice T. T. Williams, Councilman A. D. Gable and ex-Policemen James Tempest and Edward Williams, who were lieutenants on the police force last year under the deceased. It Is the "Admiral."
