The concurrent resolution providing for im investigation or tho Warren hosp.tal for the insane came up on a motion to refer it to the committee on judiciary general. Senator McCarrell said he hail looked into the matter of Peart's charges against the hospital submitted a year ago and fouud th.it the governor had referred tho charges to the board of public charities, which had attempted to investigate the same through the committee on lunacy, but were unable lo get Peart to appear, oven after the com rnittee had agreed to pay the expenses. Senator McCarreTll lyid, no objection to an investigation, Imt ti wanted it made clear that such an innuiry was necessary. Ho thought thero should be a full and thorough in vestigation The motion to refer to the committee on judiciary general was voted down aud the question was on concurrence in the reso lution. Senator Thomas wanted to amend that tho report o the committee should bo submitted at tho present session of tho legislature. This was opposed by Senator Osburn, who said there would not bo time sufficient to complete the investigation be fore the close of the present session. Sena tor Bannon said he lived near Warren and he had never heard of such charges, but he was willing to have a prompt and full in-ve.-tigation, as the trustees o the hospital would not rest under sucn serious accusa tion. The resolution was Anally adopted with the amendment that the committee Bhall report the result of its investigation at the present or next session. Senator Green, of Berks, wanted to in cludo the hospitals at Norristown, Harris burg and Danville in the investigation, but Senator Grady raised the point that there are no charges against these Institutions to investigate, and nls amendment nil.
