OME unknown Italian, presumably ono of tho construction gang em ployed on tho Pennsyl vania llailroad, caused somocommotionamoiig 'tho passengers of oar No. 27 on the olcctrio railway near Wm Penn last overling. The Italian was a pastenger on tho car when it was on its journoy down the valley Bhortly after 8 o'clock. When the car turned tho curvo at tho south cud of tho long' trestle that spans Dovoy'a crossing the Italian left Ilia seat and told tho conductor to let him oil' at the Italian shanties which aro located a short distance from tho eastern cud of Win Penn. The Italian seemed impatient and tho oou' ductor after giving tho signal to the motor man to "slow np" told him not to bo hasty. As the car reached tho shanties tlio Italian showed no disposition to alight and tho con ductor said something to tho effect that the man had better go on to a stopping place known as Dunlap's. The next instant the Italian jumped from tho plattorm aud, as tho car was still in motion, his awkward method of alighting threw his faro forward into the mud. A few moments later the report of a pistol shot was heard by the passengers in the car, but no attention was paid to it as those who heard it thought it was a report of n car that had been placed on the rail by some children. It was not until tho car stopped at Dun lap's in Wm. Penn to allow a lady to alight that the truth dawned tirton tho mmonorom. 'Pnen the conductor, William Dooloy, of Girardvilla, and P. J. McCormick, of the same place, who was on tho platform with Dooleys stated that after the Italian raised hluisolf from the mud his body straightened and his arm inado n backward motion. The report of a pistol shot followed. It was unanimously agreed by the passengers that the Italian, angered by his fall, had drawn a revolver and tired at the car. Tho conductor said he would report tho utse and let the company decide whether or not its officers should try and trace the Italian. Dooloy and McCormick described tho Italian as being a short, stout fellow with clean shaven face and wearing a brown corduroy coat, pants aud -rest, and a black soft hat. lie also wore a gold-plated chain. If the Schuylkill Traction Company un dertakes to trace the fellow it is hoj,ied hq will be caught and taught a lesson that will serve to curb his temper in the fu.uro and keep his hands off the fire arms. Some of our temporary foreign residents are sorely in need of such a lesson and if the company can apply it in this case it will win the gratitude of its patrons.
