The voters of our borough went to the polls yesterday and dcoided whether we should have city or syndicate water In the future. The advoeates of both ideas have been airing their opinions pretty freely in the mattor, with the balance of opinion, slightly in favor of Syndicate, or, Old Water Company Water. Those who thought tho borough should dis tribute ttie precious liquid have bceu loud In their claims of tho beauties of a pumping system that would give a never falling sup ply of water, similar to the one now in opera tion at Shenandoah ? a system that would eventually (in a century or two) pay for it self and afterwards bo a standard moans of in come and keep the treasury In a bursting state for all time. Those people have been pretty numerous and make their wild asser tions by the same course of reasoning that oine of your people have been guilty of, Practical ieople hero who have gone over the territory of the proposed now plant are satis fied that instead of one pumping station two will be necessary to perform the work re quired, which would almost double tho esti mated cost of the new works. Now tho friends of the old Water Company Bay thore is plenty of water being furnished and that the Company will be able, when contemplated improvements are made, to supply a town of twice the population of Mahanoy City, and that scarcity of water In tho future will be a thing ""known. a bad coogli or cold calls for a good remedy the cure (or It. fur Coughs, Colds, 1 Orlppe and Consumption, a perlen and tier nanentcuieU Pau-llna, the wo.ncus-s yield to lis 1ih1UC properties "wti 28 cents. paj-TtnaU sold at P. 1 I- Kirlln's drug etc re.
