Death has again visited our borough and has lemoved therefrom ono of our most prominent men, John Foster Straub, having died about midnight 'last Friday, after a lingering illness. For the past few years Mr. Straub's usual robust health had yielded to a disease which lm filed the best medical skill. The deceased was married to Miss Annie Moore, daughter of ox-County Treasurer Meore, of this place, who survives him with out family, and who, throughout all his illness, was constantly by his sido to adminis ter to his wants and comfort. His devoted mother also survives him. John was popular a mong his associates. Frank, and although sometimes brusque, ho was ever ready to speak a word of cheer aud lend a hand to any less favoied about him. Genial, bright and witty, his company was always sought and enjoyed, and his presence will bo missed in many a social gathering. l)y occupation he was a moulder, having learned his trade at the Mincrsvillo Iron Works, whero he was looked upon as ono of tho best skilled in that department of work. After working here for somo years ho went West and located at Rurllngton, Iowa, whero ho became superintendent of one of the largest foundries in that city. His health failing him, ho resigned tho position and returned to Miners villo whero he, when health permitted, worked in tho iron works until at last ho was obliged to relinquish work entirely. Tho deceased was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity and was buried Tuesday afternoon from his lato residenco on North street. Mincrsvillo Lodge, No. 222, F. &. A. M., attended tho funeral in a body. Tho Itev. J. C. Trauger, of tho English Lutheran church, officiated at tho houso. A largo number of relatives and friends followed the remains to the M. E. cemetery, whero inter ment was made. E. Hummel was tho funeral director. Mrs. Chas. B. Palsgrovo, of Schuylkill Haven, spent a few days this weok with her sister, Mrs. Sallie A. Wythes. John H.
