The socond summer season at Lakeside was formally oponod yesterday by tho Philopatrian Club of town. Tho mombors of tho club and their lady friends filled a special train of six cars last evening and returned hero at an early hour this morning after having a most delightful time. Tho immense dancing pavilion was brilliantly illuminated and entrancing dancing music was furnished by an excellent orchestra. Tho gathering was a brilliant one and all sang praises for the splendid opportunities aflordod for genuino enjoyment at Lake side. Caterer Yost served an excellent euppor in first class stylo. Lakeside will be the favorite resort of residents of this and surrounding counties. Tho management of tbo park has greatly improved the place and is steadily putting money into it to meet the domands of the pleasure seeking public. Tho latest stroke of enterprise is the securing of an immense steam carousal, shown in tho accompanying cut. It ar rived at Lakeside to day and will be ready for business by next Tuesday. It was se cured at a cost of ?5 000 and is' ono of the most elaborate structures of the kind in the state. Tho carousal has connected with it a steam organ that plays twenty of tho latest tunes of the day. Those who have seated themselves near the carousals at Atlantic City and Coney Island and spent many a pleasant hour listening to the delightful tunes of tho steam organs can form an idea ef the raro treat tho latest ac quisition at Lakeside will afford. Tho list of dates already secured at Lakesido shows the necessity of early ap plication by Sunday schools and societies who wish to have a day out at this popular rosort.
