Walker, of Greensburg, Pa, has been visiting friends at Salisbury and Meyersdale during the past week. Mr. Walker was a resident of Salisbury from 1877 to 1898, conducting a geneal store most of the time, and was also engaged in the coal business here for a while. He has many friends here who were glad to meet him once again, but all sorry that he could not remain longer. Mr. Walker reported his wife in poor health while here yesterday, which we are indeed sorry to note, but trust that she will soon recover, and that she and the other members of the family will also visit our town from time to time. While in Salisbury last week; Mr. Walker was accompanied by his neice, Mrs. Geo. H. Hocking, of Meyersdale, and his brother, Charles Walker, late postmaster of Frostburg. Md. Last week the Merchants Coal Com- pany had a suit in court against the Farmers’ Fire Insurance Company, of York, Pa., which grew out of a fire at Coal Run, several years ago, when the said coal company 1-st a block of houses insured by the Aetna Fire In- surance Company and the York con- cern aforesaid. The houses were not occupied at the time, and had been of the insurance policies permitted. However, the Aetna company did not take advantage of technicalities, but promptly paid its share of the loss. The York concern, however, was not so liberal, and in a suit to compel it to pay, won out by taking advantage of an unfair provision in the policy. It is needless to say that the York com- pany’s course in the matter will lose it lots of business in this locality. Mr. R. S.
