Town Councils hiring and keeping such men in office will be held to strict account by the people. ~~ Ir our Town Council merely wants an officer to round up stray cows and arrest and watch children, while adults are allowed to raise all the hell they want to raise without being arrested on the spot, then why not give the job to some woman? Some woman are the best kind of watchers, and they could notify fellows who like to raise a row to appear before the Burgess and pay a fine after the row is over, just as well as any blue-coated lobster on earth. The singing of silly songs, such “Some folks say dat preachers don’t steal,” and “As I. was walkin’ froo de fiel’ a blacksnake stung me in da heel,” and other foot and sacrilegious: songs which were sung at other camp meet- ings that “Mistah” Scott Brown ar- ranged for in years past, should not be countenanced in the name of religion by any respectable person. If the affair is to be conducted in a christianlike manner, it will be worthy of patronage ; but if it is to be conduect- ed like some of “Mistah” Scott Brown’s former camp meetings, and principally for “Mistah’” Scott Brown’s benefit, no decent man should permit it on his land. Cars Expected to be Running a Early Date—Work Rapidly Progressing. [Last Saturday Judge Kooser handed down his long delayed decision in the Trolley injunction cases, and all the people of this locality are rejoicing over the verdict. The decision is most sweeping in its character, and it is a great and glori- ous victory for the Pennsylvania & Maryland Street Railway Company, which already has its power house erected, its machinery installed, one of its cars here, and much of its track laid. The car barn will now be speed- ily pushed to-completion at Boynton, the balance of the track laid, the poles and trolley erected, ete. A large force of men is now at work. at the points which had formerly been in dispute, and the good work is going on with all possible haste. Just how soon cars will be running between Salisbury and Meyersdale, cahnot be definitely stated at this time; but a strong effort will be made to have the line in operation in time for the .Mey- ersdale fair, which opens on Sept, 26th. It may not be. possible to have cars running quite that soon, but if nothing unforseen occurs to retard the com- pletion of the road, it is safe to say that cars will be running over it before snow flies.
