The genial judge has many warm friends here who are al- ways glad to cee him. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lichty and their little daughter arrived here from Sabetha, Kan., last Sunday, for a visit with Mrs. Lichty’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Beachy. Blocher and Daniel Dorsey, of Grantsville, Md., were Salisbury visit- ors on New Year’s day. Mr. Blocher came up from Baltimore, where he is enrolled as a student at a college of pharmacy. He had ‘been at home spending his Christmas vacation. Since the death of Harman Farner, Mr. O. W. Boyer is the oldest man in Salisbury. He is nearly 81 years old, but he still has the elastic, springy step of a man of forty. Our next oldest citizen is Mr. Wm. Smith, who is but seven days younger than Mr. Boyer. Charles Johnson, Edward Berkebile and William Savage, aged 25, 65 and 40, respectively, met a violent death in a coal mine owned and operated near Stoyestown, by the Shade Smokeless Coal Co. A premature explosion of dynamite literally blew them to pieces, last Thursday, and also badly damaged the mine. Johnson was a single man, but the other two were married. Miller, special inspector for the State Dairy and Food Com- mission, came howe Friday evening for a holiday vacation; but, we regret to say, Mr. Miller took sick while at- tending service in the United Brethren church, Sunday morning, and he has since been confined to his home, where, we are pleased to note, he is gradually recovering from his indisposition. The contracting parties were Miss Charlotte L. Harris to Mr. R. B. Pusey, of Princess Anne, Md., and Miss Myrtle M. Templeman, of Cecilton, Md., to Rev. W. G. Harris, of Town Point, Md. All parties wore appropriate travel- ing dress, and immediately after the ceremony, which was performed by Dr. A. L. Mowbray, Presiding Elder of Wilmington district, Mr. and Mrs. Pusey left on an early train for a trip north, while Rev. and Mrs. Harris re- turned to the home of Mrs. Harris, in Maryland.
