Collector—aman whom few care to see, but many ask to call again. Echo—the only thing that can cheat a woman out of the last word. Evolution—clever trick performed by one Darwin, who made a monkey out of Adam. Hug—a roundabout way of expressing affection. Jury—twelve men chosen to decide who is the better lawyer. Sold by Elk Lick Supply Co. 9-1 An ingenious electric train bulletin has been installed by the Chicago and Alton Railway Company in a number of its stations, and in some of the prin- cipal hotels in cities and towns through which its trains run. The device re- sembles a clock in appearance, a hand moves on a dial and indicates whether the train is on time, or, if not, how many hours or minutes it is late. All these bulletins in one town act simul- taneously and indicate the same fact. The operator at the station controls them all, using a device similar to a telegraph instrument controlled by a telegraph key : A venerable American institution, the csmp-meeting, is on the wane. It js still far from dead, but those who know it best perceive most clearly that its sunset hour has come. As the old preacher of today recounts in the past tense the experiences of the circuit rider, that pioneering apostle of Chris- tianity to new communities, so the preacher of tomorrow will tell on oe- casions of reminiscences of the former glories of the hilarious camp-meeting when people ‘got religion’ and were not afraid to make a noise about it. Fewer and fewer of the strongest preachers attended the camp-meet- ings. The more cultivated church members hecome, the less taste they appear to have for this sort of “old- time religion.” Plainly, the camp- meeting is on the decline.—Ex. They still Like The Star. Love to all at home from all, and best wishes for old Salisbury friends.” ARE YOU ENGAGED? Engaged people should remember, that after marriage, many quarrels can be avoided, by keeping their digestions in good condition with Electric Bitters. 8. A. Brown, of Bennettsville, 8. C., says: “For years my wife suffered in- tensely from dyspepsia, complicated with a torpid liver, until she lost her strength and vigor, and became a mere wreck of her former self. Then she tried Electric Bitters, which helped her at once, and finally made her entirely well. She is now strong and healthy.” E. H.
