There has been a big row in a West ¥irginia church, wherein the preacher was mereilessly hammered by one of the officials, who is now out on bail awaiting trial. The trouble started over the very important guestion of how to pronounce “a-m-e-n,” whether i ought to be a-men or ah-men. You can apply ManZan inside, right where the pain is? Voorhees, surety; Edgar Showalter, prosecutrix.” Since the Standard re- fers to Edgar as a ‘“prosecutrix,” it must regard him as a “sissy,” and there are others who do. Berkey, Esq, was made a member of the State Cen- tral Committee, and delegates Isaiah Good, of Somerset, and W.T. Hoblitzell, of Meyersdale, were appointed to the committees on resolutions and per- manent organization. Delegate-elect W. H. Paul, of Greenville, could not at- tend the convention on account of sickness, and Mr. Hoblitzell was ap- pointed to fill the vacancy. Here is the way a local correspon- dent of a West Virginia weekly de- scribes the visit of a lady into the com- munity: “She is still enjoying the hos- pitality of her hosts and will probably defer her home-going until the glad- some sunshine of the expectant spring shall cause to bloom on West Virginia's snow-capped hills the fragrant and picturesque trailing arbutus and absorb from her winding roads the rather un- picturesque and obstruent remains of a winter of thirty-two snows.” Mr. Johnson Collins, one of the most prominent and respected citizens of Meyersdale, died at the home of his son George, in that borough, April 28th, at the age of nearly 74 years. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Mr. Collins established a general store in Salisbury in 1877, but about a year later sold it to his broth- er-in-law, George K. Walker, who re- mained in business here a number of years. Deceased was a man greatly respected by all who knew him. It is difficult to cure a cough or free yourself from the discomforts of a cold unless you move the bowels. Bee's Laxative Honey and Tar acts on the bowels and drives all cold out of the system. Then comes its soothing effect and strengthening influence upon the throat and lungs. For Croup, Whoop- ing Cough, Colds, and all Lung and Bronchial affections, no remedy is equal to the original Laxative Honey and Tar. Sold by Elk Lick Supply Co. 6-1 A fourteen-year-old boy by the name of Lynch, from Sand Patch, was brought to this city on Friday, and taken to the office of Dr. Licbty to have an ugly wound on his head dress- ed. It was the last day at the Sand Patch schools, and they were having exercises of some kind, and a revolver was needed, and the same was acci- dently discharged, the bullet striking this boy just above the ear, but as it was a glancing shot, it came out at the back of the head, after plowing a fur- row around his skull.—Meyersdale Re- publican. Last Saturday Judge Kooser filed a decree granting a new trial to Carrie Simpson, the colored woman convicied at the September court, 1904, of mur- der in the first degree, for shooting and killing Miss Minnie Friedline, the Bos- same year. The wheels of justice move very slow in some cases. The Simpson woman committed a deliberate, cold- blooded murder, of which she was duly found guilty, and she should have been hanged long ago. it is no wonder peo- ple lose patience with the courts and | resort to lynch law. Croup is quickly relieved, and Whooping Cough will not “run its course” if you use the original Bee’s Laxative Honey and Tar. This Cough Syrup is different from all others be- cause it acts on the bowels. You can not cure Croup and Whooping Cough until you rid the system of all conges- tion, by working off the cold through a copious action of the bowels. Bee's Laxative Honey and Tar does this, and cures all Coughs, Croup, Whooping Cough, etc. No opiates. Blood poison creeps up towards the heart, causing death. J. E. Stearns, Belle Plaine. Minn., writes that a friend dreadfully injured his hand, which swelled up like blood poisoning. Buck- len’s Arnica Salve drew out the poison, healed the wound, and saved his life. Best in the world for burns and sores. 25c. at E. H. Miller’s drug store. 6-1 Two from the Esbon (Kan.) Times. R. Speer, of that town, were married last Thurs- day evening at 8:30 o'clock, at the home of the groom’s brother, in Boyn- ton, Rev. A. K. Travis officiating. About twenty invited guests were present, and after the ceremony, the bride, dressed in a blue silk skirt, cream colored trimings and white silk waist, with the groom, led the way to the dining room, where a swell wed- ding supper was waiting for initiation. There was good music. The flower girls were Misses Effie and Emma Hoenshell, nieces of the groom. The “best man” was John Flickinger, cousin of the bride, and the bridesmaid was Mrs. Arthur Robertson. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. The difference between Kennedy's Laxative Honey and Tar and all other Cough Syrups is that it moves the bowels, thus expelling a cold from the system. This relaxes the nerve-tissues and by its healing effect on the throat and lungs thé cough is relieyed—cured entirely. Kennedy’s is the original Laxative Honey and Tar and contains no opiates. Good alike for young or old. Tastes good. Sold by E. H. Mil- ler. 6-1 To Develop Piney pey Run oil Field.
