THE CROSBY FRISIAN FUR COMPANY, 116 Mill Street, Rochester, N. Y. A Newspaper Worth Reading. The Pittsburg Times is a conserva- tive, careful newspaper for particular people. Its statements of fact and comments on them are concise and correct. Its departments arein charge of experts, and its authority in all matters pertaining to the events of the world at large and of the community it represents more particularly is recog- nized. It has no Sunday edition, and its position in that regard in Pittsburg is as unique as its thorough reliability in every way. Staunchly Republican in political policy it yet gives all the news of all parties. Its moral tone is high, and churchmen of every creed find in its columns more news of their interest and work than in all its con- temporaries combined. Sports are given the prominence they deserve and no more. The news concerning them is bright, timely and adequate, for the work is done by a master. Theaters in The Times as in no other paper have the truth told about them and the plays they offer. No business considerations ever interfere with the publication of criticisms that really criticise, and in this department, too, the work is done by a master. Society and the affairs of women find careful and complete ex- position on the page devoted to them. Industrial matters are accorded the prominence they merit in a Pittsburg paper, while the stock market is given the attention that has brought The Times into the front rank of financial authorities. Above all The Times is a model not only of brevity of statement, but of dignified simplicity in its typo- graphical appearance. It offends neither the eye nor the sensibilities. Those things that are.of importance are treated accordingly. Those that are unimportant are handled in keep- ing with their value. Each issue of The Times is a day’s history of events the wide world round. Its price is one cent daily or $3 a year. WHAT'S IN A NAME? Everything is in the name when it comes to Witch Hazel Salve. But in their blindness walked the path That leads to God’s’eternal wrath. Some joined with other churches and Went with the devil hand in hand, While even those ‘Who held his tenets to be true Were wont in other ways to do As Satan chose. So Deacon Brown was sore distressed That all, excepting him. transgressed. He argued that the people should Make laws to make the people good, Which was, perhaps, Like telling men to elevate Themselves to an exalted state By their boot straps; But this the deacon couldn’ see, So bent upon reform was he. Whatever men delighted in He held to be a mortal sin; And with a sigh Beheld his brethren steeped in vice That barred their way to paradise. So that was why He wanted to reform the time By making everyjsin a crime. One day in church his eyelids closed And, sooth tofsay, the deacon dozed, And, dozing, dreamed. He thought he stood before the gates Where Peter with the records waits, ‘When lo, it seemed An angel chorus smote his ear; “Don’t let old Deacon Brown in here.” “Pray, what objection can there be,” The deacon asked, “to such as me?” And Peter said: “In this, abode of perfect bliss | You’d find so many things amiss That I should dread » The deacon woke, but still the dream emained an ever-present theme To vex his mind. st, becoming wise, 1 his own unseeing ) find eyes, | | HOARSE COUGHS —STUFFY COLDS are the kind that settle on the lungs PLEURISY PNEUMONIA and develop into «a GONSUMPTION stops the cough and heals the lungs and prevents serious results from a cold.
