Medicine is not a. mere perfumed lubricating oil, the: ap-- plicatien of which serves only to amuse and oesupy the patient, but is im reality a scientific combination of pwwerful chemieals and potent drugs, which have the marvelous property of going straight to the seat of the pain, where they aet upon the lymphatics in such a manner, that the cause of thepain is absorbed and removed. It does not matter much whether the paim be due toan abnormal swelling, to sprains’ oi the joints or strains of the muscles or tendons, to rheumatism, lumbago, neuralgia, sciatica, to toothache or headache, all of these are quickly re: lieved by the magic effect of H. H. H. No other medicine or liniment seems toejual itin the rapidity or certaint ofits action. Often a single thoroug applization causes the pa and dis- comfort to vanish, as if by magic. The H. H. H. is used only externally. Tt is put up in a 25 cent size and also larger bottles. 2 The signature and portrait of the inventor, Dr. D. Dodge Tomlinson, 400 North Third St., Philadelphia, Pa. is printed on the wrapper around each bottle. Sold by druggists. A slightly smaller sample vial will be delivered by U. S. Williams started in the grocery business in Kan- sas City with a eash capital of $225, all he possessed in the world. A few weeks ago he sold out and retired with a fortune estimated at from $200, 000 to $300,000. tecently Mr. Williams talked enter- tainingly on the subject of his success and the results his advertising achiev- ed. “I remember very well,” said Mr. Williams, “that the first day’s sales amounted to just $8. For the first six months I did Some credit business, and then I realized that those customers would soon have my stock and I would have the accounts, I conceived the idea of selling for cash and advertising. I went to the Kansas City Star to in- quire the cost of advertising and was surprised to find that it would cost me one day’s receipts to pay for a small advertisement for one day. However, I was so positive that advertising was the only way to success that I made the necessary arrangements. It took all the money I could spare from my business, but it was only a short time soon afterward moved to 802 Inde- pendence avenue, just across the street until my business began to grow. Ii from my former store. I was there about three years, and because larger quarters were needed I moved to the southwest corner of Independence ave- nue and Holmes street. It was only a short time until I secured two addi- tional rooms just across the street on Independence avenue, and there I re- mained until 1893, when the move was made to the Nelson building. “Here I opened my store on Sept. 23, 1893. Of course IT had advertised the opening liberally in The Star. I will never forget that day. There was such a crowd of customers that the clerks could not wait on one in ten. From that day on business has been on a large scale. I have employed from fifty to seventy-five clerks at all times varying with the seasons of the year. Goods are shipped to all parts of the United States. I have customers on the Pacific coast, the Atlantic and from British Columbia to the Gulf of Mexi-- co. For the out of town trade my ad goes to The Weekly Star. From the beginning of the little store on Inde- pendence avenue until today my busi- ness has grown each year from 10 to 500 per cent.”—Profitable Advertising. Is Holding a Good Job. Under date of April 30th, Mr. J. Ed. Rrjitz communicates the following to: 1 THE STAR: “Send your ever welcome paper to my address at No. 4032 Willow St.,. Pittsburg, Pa.
