Flour is |l(s. per barrel, and is scarce and poor at that. ■ It is not to be woadered at, that laboring men, all over the country, are demanding higher wages. The seven and three-tenths per cent, shoddy contractors, bond-holders and speculators, are delighted with the "change but the poor laboring white man "can't see it " We begin to think that the niggers could rule the county better than their abolition allies—Hoor-a ! for universal suffrage ; and universal suffering. Rain— At our last issue we hoped we should not again have reason to complain of too much rain ; but now as we go to pi ess, the rain which has beon long continued, is hurtling down in torrents. It seems almost impossible to find time between storms to plant an onion bed. The blooming, merry month of May, of former years, seems to have departed, and instead we hare cold, freezing, wet black republican weather. But, wait a little longer : " There's a good time coming by-and-by boys !" A Destructive Fire oecrured at Factoryville, on the evening of Saturday the 4th inst. Eleven buildings, in all, were destroyed The fire we un derstand, first broke out in the Good Templars Ilall ever the dwelling of Mr. Wells, which with the buildings appurtenant, was entirely destroyed.— Orlando Reynolds lost House blacksmith's shop, and barn—Mr. Warner a wagon-shop and contents — Henry Nemcomb a Cabinet and Furniture shop and contents —Mr, Beam a dwelling—Mr. Curry a dwelling, barn Ac. The fire is said to have been caused by some careless Templar ; there having been a meeting at the Hall that evening. Two Scamps—Eugene Cooper anIJK ngler, from Scranton or Hyde Park- who had stolen a watch, SlO in money and some other articles from Mr. Jerre Stephens, a hotel keepei at Niven, Sus quehanna Co., were traced to th s place and arrest ed a few days since. They pretended t> be making arrangements for giving a concert here. But as appeared by the confession of Cooper, after the ar rest, they were awaiting a favorable opportunity to male a raid on some man across the river, who, they understood had some spare greenbacks about him. Cooper is quite well knotvn about here, hav ing lived for some time at Springville, an 1 was for a short time a clerk at this place. Ringler who was evidently the ring-leader in the business, adopted, during his short visit with us the eupboneous title ef Mr. Florence. OVERFIELD— BINNS— At the Church of the HOLT TRINITY, City of Brooklyn, Wednesday April 24th 1867, by the REV. A N. LITTLE JOB a, D. D., J. L. OVERFIKLI), Esq., of the City of New Yruk. and Miss OLIVIA M. BIS.VS of the for mer place. John forgot the fair Olivia, long enough to think of his old friends—including the printer—in Wyo ming. The last mentioned individual was remem bered in away that is highly gratifying to all of the profession. For, if ail printers are not poor devils themselves—and we believe that's the rule—they sustain very intimate relations with an Imp of that ehar&ctsr. And, neither a poor devil of a printer, nor a poor printer's devil, ever has half enough of Mr. Spianer's autographs,to make -'his ends meet." Therefore to the aforesaid individuals, 'Tis sweet to be remembered"—financially. But. John, we imagine this new arrangemeut must somewhat interfere with those oyster suppers, those club-meetings and glorious clam-bakes ; which, in the olden time, helped to make you forget the clam orings of hnlf crazy clients No more now "You'l vex with mirth the drowsy ear of night." But, after the toils of day are o'er—thinking only of Olivia's joyful greetings—at sober six o'clock, "Johny'll go marching home."
