He came from Wilkesbarre, Penn., where his pa rents (11. W. and Elizabeth Northup) resided until recently. He was well known among the Railroad men in the West, and was universally popular, never ofl'end ing any one, doing his duty at all times, an l ever a true, faithful, and generous friend His good deeds stand as a monument to his memory more beautiful than marble columns lettered with gold. He ran the pioneer train west of the Mississippi at this place, and never lost ono day by sickness until the last six months. No more deserving tribute to his memory can bo paid than that he was a good man, a true man, an honest man, and a friend to the poor.
