So many supers ism's in Suyili'T County are putting a few loa Is of gravel n dirt upon their rouds eaeh year uii'l making the iilea of economy. It would be better ami far more economical to fix up in the best manner possible a biuiill port ion of road and thus make it durable for mmy veuiH. With tho system of annual "patching", the roada aro not undo any belter and tho cxpeiiHo continues. If, on tho other hand, a portion of road in well fixed, it bo coinoH a better medium of travel and very little, if auy, repairing is requir ed. In tho end a groat amount of Uiu'll t)j Wiu Vio ou'i Ou aTii Uij ttwt 1 oilds will bo tho result. Another matter much neglected is that small stones and frequently those of considerable size, nro lying loose upon the road for every vehicle to puss over. These loose stones could bo picked off and in one month tho improved condition of the roads would save vehicles to an extent sufliciont to pay for picking otV tho looso stones from the road. Wo trust that super visors who are delinquent in these matters can profit by tho HUggctions above ottered. CENTREVILLK. Tho snow storm of last week was tho biggest surprise this community has had for some time. As a rule, tho unpredicted snow storm always proves the most severe of the season. We all had been hearing tho robins and blue birds sing during the month of March and in the present month, the farmers had their oats and po tatoes planted, and tho warm em brace of spring's sunshino was every where felt, and to awako on Wcd ncsdaj morning of last week to bo hold Hoveral feet of snow on tho ground and still coining down in driving icy sheets, even staggered "Barney" who, you know has about ninety quarts of little onions in his bods. Tho only one approaching it occurred, if my memory servos me right, on the 15th, Kith and 17th of April, 1h.",, just 10 yearn ago. After tho storm had spent its fury tho ground was covered to the depth of about twenty inches, and, as in tho present instance, a considerable quantity melted during tho first day's fall. Tho ls.71 snow remained on tho ground less than a week, and fruit nnd vegetables suffered no in oonvenience. There aro a number in our town who remember tho oc curence. Another great snow storm that will be vividly recalled by tho memory of tho youug people, occur red on tho Mil or :th of May, 1SS2, only twelve years ago. At that timo tho fruit trees wero in full bloom, garden vegetables wero growing nicely and spring was under full headway.
