Inane l.ejilev, 1'eiT.v How, Capturing a Wildcat. Week before last Charles lloush, tho great hunter of Washington ownship, while out hunting foxes on Firestone Hidgo south of Free- ung, discovered tho tracks of a wildcat. Ho put his dogs on the trail and started in pursuit of the animal. After a long chase during which tho cat would mount trees to escape the fury of tho d -g , and jump down at the approach of Uoush, the animal was "holed"' in a edge of rocks which made further pursuit for tho time being impos sible. Mr. lloush plugged up tho hole and returned home. Ho wait ed several days nnd then taking with him a steel fox trap ho opened the hole and placed the trap in it in such a position that the cat would have to spring it in order to get out Tho next morning bright and early lie started for the home of tho animal. He found her outside of her hole, bristling with anger and blowing like an adder. Her right hind leg was (irmly clasped between tin-cruel jaws of the steel trap. She made repeated and desperate at tempts to get at him, but hit was prepared for just such an emergency and had fastened a long polo to tho end of the trap chain, by the aid of which he kept himself out of her leach. He was also prepared with a strong canvass bag which was providei with a diaw-htring at tho top, and, holding it open with a forked stick ho stirred tho cat into it und then drawing it shut he disengngod the trap from her leg, threw tho ba over his tdiouldcr and marched home in such a stato of triumph as oidy a successful hunter can experience. Last Saturday ho sent tho cat over to Kx-ShorilV Bolender, and it can now be soon at the Washington House free of charge. it is about as horce-looking an i , ... animal as one win wish to see stands about fifteen inches high, is nearly two feet long, grey in color with dark stripes, short, tufty tail and terrible looking claw sand teeth It is supposed to bo a common wile cat and looks like one in every re spect excepting its tail, which re sembles that of the Bay lynx.
