Kendall and family and Miss Ruth Kendall returned home last Saturday after having visited friends in Washington and Bakerstown, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. D. Heefner and daughter Miss Lydia Eliza beth, of Waterfall, motored to McConnellsburg last Friday and spent a few hours shopping. Mr. Nathaniel H. Peck, near Needmore, went to Pittsburgh last Saturday to spend a week with his son Walter who is an in spector in, the Model Engine Shops in that city. J. Campbell Patterson, of Clarksburg, W. Va., accompan ied by Ralph Johnston, .of, Pitts burgh, drove over from the Iron City on Saturday and returned Monday afternoon. The Fulton County Ministerial Association will meet in the M. E. church, McConnellsburg next Monday at 2 o'clock, All minis ters in the County are request ed to attend these meetings. Mrs. Rebecca Snyder, East Lincoln Way, was carrying a pot of coffee and a bowl of gravy from an out kitchen into the din ing room, when Bhe tripped on an obstruction and fell scalding her face rather seriously. Mr. S. J. Cline, near Fort Littleton, brought his daughter Miss Hazel to town Monday morning in time fur school, as she is attending the Normal, and Mr. Cline spent most of the day in attending to odds and ends of business. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peck re ceived a card Monday inform ing them that their Bon Wilbur, who enlisted and went into Camp Greene the 4th day of January, had landed safe in France, and was now ready for a lick at the Kaiser. An automobile party of two cars, composed of Col. and Mrs. W. L. Moseby, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. The Union Memorial Services held in the Auditorium last Sun day morning brought together a large assemblage of people, pri marily for worship and secon darily to honor the "old soldi ers. " There were, however, few of the veterans who were able to attend the services on account of advancing age and the climb up the long stairway. The sermon delivered by Rev. Wilson V. Grove of the United Presbyterian Church, was a strong appeal for loyalty to God and Country. Rev, Lowe of the Presbyterian-Reformed and Rev. Jackson of the Methodist each had a part in the services. Obituary. Lelia daughter of Victor and Annie Lynch, died at their home at Berkeley Springs, W. Va., on Tuesday. April 16. 1918, aged 13 years. 7 months and 1 day. She bad been in poor health lor some time, but recently seemed better. On Monday evening Bhe complain ed of earache and went to bed. Tuesday doctors were called, but Dothing couid be done. She suf fered much until Tuesday follow ing when the 'Master called her to the Better World, where there is no more pain no more sick ness or death. She joined the church last fell and was devoted to her chnrcb and Sunday school. She had a kind word for every one, and every one that knew-her had a kiud word for her. Her yonng body was laid to rest in the cem etery at Antioch church on Tim ber Ridge, and six of her Sunday school class were pallbearers, and five of them flower girls. Her Sunday school teacher and choir came with them. Besides her parents, she is survived by one sister Zada. and and brother Warner both ai home. Next Conference at McConnellsburg. At the Cumberland Valley Conference of the Lutheran Church held at Mechanicsburg on Monday and Tuesday of last week, seven vacant congrega tions were reported: Shippens- burg, Fayetteville, Mercersburg, Trindle Spring, Greencastle, Newville and Boiling Springs, Strong stands were taken for the prosecution of the war and for a vigorous campaign for the election of dry candidates for the State legislature. The next conference will be held at Mc Connellsburg. The last time the Conference was held at McCon nellsburg is about 25 years ago.
