Our boys and girls may indulge in a "sigh of relief" over the fact that they will not be re quired to take out a license to fish for Sunnies and Chubs, but they made a narrow escape at the hands of the big fishing chubs of the State who tried hard to place a fisherman's license law on our statue books. There is sure to be a greater interest during the current year in various methods of storing fruits and vegetables for winter use. Nearly an Pennsylvania farmers produce more fruit and vegetables than can be consumed locally at harvest time. The sac rifice of such produce may be prevented by proper and in many cases simple storing devices. It is with the idea of meetings demand for information concern ing such devices that the Penn sylvania State College is prepar ing a circular on the home stor age of fruits and vegetables. This circular will be free to Penn sylvania residents. In writing for information, re member the address State Col lege, State College, Pa., the post cflice being the saup name as the College. . Went Around the World. The Lutheran Annual fete, "A Trip Around the World," was held Thursday evening of last week. Although rain was falling at the hour the excursion was billed to start, fully one hundred and seventy-five people "set sail" for the chief countries of Europe and Asia. Submarine enemies may have lingered in the wake of the fast ships, ' but if torpedos were fired, no hits were recorded and at each port the natives brought food and refreshments and received the Americans with no small honors. Of course, the Lutheran church was America, from which the excursion started. Then the five countries visited were represent ed by the following homes, at each of which the party was en tertained a few minutes: Japan, John Conrad; Italy, Rev. C. F. Jacobs; Switzerland. John Ott; England, James Hull; China, Mrs. Wm. Black. Autobus Wanted. Wanted: An autobus to leave McConnellsburg daily at five o'clock in the evening for top of Cove mountain and on the return trip, leave the ground at nine o'clock. Fare to be fifteen cents each way or thirty cents for round trip. Under present ac commodations, the return 'trip must be made at seven o'clock and the fare is fifty cents too much for just one hour's outing. Hundreds would patronize a four hour, thirty-cent arrangement during July and August In most towns, access to popular picnic grounds can be had for a nickle by trolley, but as that is not possible in McConnellsburg, let us have the fifteen-cent auto bus. McConnellsburg would stand even the twenty-five rate if the time of return could be ex tended to nine or ten o'clock p. m. Silage Best Our Agricultural Department made ' experiments with seven separate lots of steers in the feed lots at State College last winter and then sold the seventy two head on the Pittsburgh mar ket On the lots fed heavy sil age ration greatest gains were made and they sold for higher prices than the steers fed dry roughage. At most barns a sheaf of dry corn fodder is given to each head at a feed. A handful of leaves is all the animal can eat of this ration. But when the sheaf is cut green and made into silage, not only do the leaves furnish food, but the stalks as well and in this manner, the available feed supply can be more than doubled and made better, also.
