Frank Skiles, of Pleasant Ridge and Dr. and Mrs. J. J. Palmer of Needmore, made a trip to Mc Connellsburg Monday in Frank's Maxwell. From all that we can gather from tourists, the road between Harrisonville and Scrub Ridge was never in such a wretch edly bad condition even in ante Lincoln Highway days. Petersburg, six miles west of Huntingdon, Pa., is, doubtless, enjoying a big get-together jolli fication to-day. February 24th was selected as the date for a big meeting of farmers and citizens of the town. They have named it "Community Day." In addi tion to "big eats" at noon, the entertainment will include ad dresses by State College instruct ors, and others. Only a few days ago, we read a severe criticism of the spirit that seems to separate, in many places, the people of the country from those of little towns whose sole existence depends upon the welfare of the surrounding ter ritory. Like many city writers on rural subjects, the critic ad vanced some impractical sugges tions, but he did repeat several good American ideas that have been preached for generations, one of which is, that there is no better way to build up a commu nity than that of frequent busi ness and social meetings of town and country people. There is nothing so good as a working knowledge of the needs of both sides since their welfare is in separable. C. L S. C Program. February 28. 1. Roll Call: Quotations from Longfellow ! 2. Stewart of that place, was fined $G0 and costs $03.52 in all for selling bad eggs. This is the first prosecution we have heard from outside of large cities. But the eggs did not "go bad" in the city they were bad in the nests, and only la3t spring the News predicted that the law would reach out to the source of bad eggs. Brumbaugh Against Booze.
