Dear Sir: Two cans of paint look alike; two paints look alike, when opened; two jobs look alike, so long as tb-iy're new unless one is scant. They aro far from alike: one is paint and the other is trash. The gallon price is not far from alike. They don't cost alike. One takes 10 gillons to paint a house; tne other takes 20. The cost of one job is "i": tho other ftOO it may be 'M the job that cost least is the good one; wears twice as long as the other. There are two ways of telling go d paint: by the name; by tho number of gallons it takes for a job least gallons, best paint. By the name Devoe; by least gal Ions, Yours truly P. VV. DBVOK & Co. P. b. J. A. Boyd, Mercersburg and Nor man O, Huber Chambers burg, sell our paint. A Cat As a Torch. Readers of the daily papers have seen within a vear more than one account of tires caused by cats. Recently, a kitten playing with a gas tube innocently set an apartment blazing in New York. A cat in Ireland, startled from sleep by the sudden barking of a dog, jumped on the table: over turned the lamp; was drenched with blazing oil; leaped through a window in agonized (light; ran amuck, a living torch, in the farm yard: set tiro to half a dozen stacks before it could be killed. The resulting conflagration was disastrous. Good For Everybody. Mr. Norman R. Coulter, a prominent architect in the Del bert Building, San Prancisco, says : "I fully endorse all that has been said of Electric Bitters as a tonic medicine. It if good for everybody. It corrects stom ach, liver and kidney disorders in a prompt and efficient manner and builds up the system." Elec tric Bitters is the best spring medicine ever sold over a drug gist's counter; as a blood purifier it is unequled. 50c. at Trout's drug store. I'radstrfrt's Report. Lord liosebery in an address attilasgow university some years ago gave utterance to the follow ing interesting speculation: "Had the elder Pitt when he became i rime minister not left the house of commons he could doubtless have induced George III. to listen to reason, introduc ed American representation into ' parliament and preserved the i thirteen colonies to England. The new blond of America would have burst the old vessels of the constitution and provided a sell adjusting system of representa tion. There would have been no war of separation, no war of 1812, and finally, when the Americans became a majority, the empire Would perhaps have moved sol emnly across the Atlantic and Britain become a historic shrine, the European outpost of the empire." Exceptional as were the special baseball editions that, marked the opening of the baseball sea sons of 1906 and 1007, the twelve page supplement in colors, which will be a feature of The North American of Sunday, May 10, will eclipse them both. Nover before has there been such base ball activity as this year, In addition to tho organ izations of last year, the Ameri can. National, Atlantic, Tristate a id Intercounty leagues, a host of new leagues are in the field in eluding the Union Pennsylvania and New Jersey, North Poun, Main Line, Lebanon, Susquehan na, etc. Followers of way ot these clubs will find then interests well cared for in the big special edition. The batting and fielding figures of the American. National and Tristate for 1007 aregivenin fad, a reference to settle future argu ments. The chase for the pennant, that trophy which is the most sought of all rewards for athletic effort, forms the subject of a first page story and a striking illustration in colors. George M. Graham, The North American's sporting editor, has an article on the managers of the Tristate teams. School news, a specialty of The North American, is taken care of with a full page. Colleges, es pecially those of Pennsylvania, are correspondingly taken care off. The bsck page, in colors, is given up to two striking groups, profile studies of every member of the Phillies and Athletics, something that every fan will want to keep. Throughout Pennsylvania there are huiidnds of independent clubs, who draw big crowds and have the backing of the entire town. These are all cared for in this supplement. Altogether, the nn mes of 10,000 players figure in this edition. Thousands were unable to get copies of previous baseball edi tions. Order from your news dealer now. The New Road Law. The question as to whether township road supervisors are entitled to compensation, has been decided in the affirmative by Judge Galbreth, of Butler countv, who holds that the act of 1906 does not conflict with the actot May 4, 1889, in this respect. The opinion of Judge Galbreth settles a question that has been argued, discussed and debated upon in every township of the state since the act was signed. All these conditions are now wip ed out by t he opinion of the Court, which holds that township super visors are entitled to receive 80 per day for their work. Hereaf ter resignations will be the excep tion rather than the rul' In all probability the act of 1005 will be repealed or amended at the next session of legislature as it is not satisfactory to the farmers in its present form.
