However unjust the law compelling parents to have their children vaccin ated or keep them out of school, may seem, tha fact remains that it is the law, and there is nothing left but to observe its provisions. The sugges tion that voters should know about what laws may lie expected from the man w ho solicits their otes, is a rem edy that may be applied hereafter, but that does not help in the present. Kditor.j , I see in the Fultoa County News of August LMrd, an article on vaccination, and I have at oth er times, seen others on the same i subject, in which parents were advised to be loyal observers of i the hw. Well, that is all right. A good citizen should be obedient to the laws of his country, and should advise others to be; but why not go a little further and advise the voters to be more care ful in the future who they send to make laws. Laws should be observers of the people as well as people observers of the law. Is it not a fact there are people who care but little for human life. It's only the dollar. Try to rid the lawmakers of that class of people. Vaccination is but one step to ward the sacrifice of human life. Next, there may be a section in the law that may read thus : "All public schools shall be visited once a month by a phy si: ian ap pointed for the purpose, and, for the benefit cf science, he shall kill one child each visit the doomed ! child to bo the one standing at the foot of the class the greatest number of days, and any teacher or mother refusing to help in the killing of said child, upon convic tion, shall be stoned to death." Then what shall we do ''. advise the people to stand up and deliver their children for the benefit of science (the almighty dollar), and be good observers of the law y A successful vaccination may be a preventive of smallpox; but is it not a fact that there is more die of vaccination than ot small pox ''. Did there not more die in Camden and Clayton, N. J., in 1U04, ol vaccination, than in live years of smallpox ? Voters, stop and think who made this law, and why; and what may come next. Do the people make the law After the law is made, no matter how absurd it seems, one must advise the peo ple to be good observers of the law. If the laws are to be ob served, would it not be well to try to get a law that the people approve. A Rkauku of The Nf.wn. Picnic. There will be a picnic Satur day, September 8th, afternoon and evening, at John J. Gordon's near Laarel llidge school house. Kverybody invited. Too Deep To Wade. Never in the history of the old est inhabitant has the Potomac kept at so high a stage during the month of August as it has this year. This year ferrying has been the only means of crossing the Potomac at Wll-liamsport. Wedding. THOMAS CAHBAUUH.
