SliW PLAN TO 01PE FARMERS.
Well Dressed Man nrd Weary Willie Work
Confidence Scheme.
Lmcfistor, June -I : A clever
new conliileuce game is being
worked m Lancaster county, and
the operators have found not. a
few victims. A well dressed man
stops at a farmhouse and declares
that he has lost a valuable dia
mond pin in the roadway, and all
make a search.
Nothing is found, but before
leaving, the stranger says he will
return, and if the pin is found
will give a reward of lf0 for its
ret urn. A few days later, a tramp
turns up with a pin, presumably
a diamond, which he says he
found. The farmer usually takes
the naif, and gets the pin for si'cO
or s.", expecting to get ir0 as
his reward.
After vainly waitiug for the los
er he learns from some jeweler
that the pin is worthless.

This statement was made re-1

FORT M0TT.
Harvesting in this section of
the State is a very busy industry
of the farmers at present.
Fort Mott was., the scone oi sev
eral interesting battle i last week,
between the Navy and the Artil
lery. When call to arms was
sounded, everybody with the
greatest enthusiasm played his
part well.
Fort Mott, N. J., is situated
about forty miles below Philadel
phia, having Fort Delaware, Del.,
to its right, in the center of the
Delaware river. Also, Fort Du
Pon o is one of the great protective
faculties of the District of Dela
ware. Fort Mott is one of the
best situated and ornamental
posts of the East. H is a fine
parkyjin general, with its shade
trees, its exquisite lawns, and
flowerbeds, which give a sweet
odor to the entire post. It has
superb sidewalks, that stretch in j
all directions. j
I would like to ask any of my j
Fulton county friends to take a j f
visit to F.irt Mott. They will be j i
gladly welcomed, and I will try to
show them some of the greatest : i
