C, wanted 5,000 gallons of paint, and bought by price; paid 5 cents less than ours; got a "lead-and-zinc" paint; but the 1 ad was sulphate of lead, not carbonate. Sulphate costs about half; and covers about half. That paint was adulterated about six times as much as the 5 cents paid for. He "saved" " cents; and it cost him 30. Oh no; it cost him more than that; we forgot the labor. Can't work it out exactly; don't know how long it'll wear. Short-measure besides; that al'ine was twice as much as his "saving" 5 cents. It was thin, too; some loss there; don't know how tnuch. 1 here was too much dryer in it The maker made something on that; he didn't. Taking it altogether, he didn't make much by that 5 cents. Go by the name : and the name is Devoo lead-and zinc. Yours truly F. W. Dkvoe it Co., 49 New York. P. S. F. O. Bare, Fort Little ton, sells our paint Easy. The professor of mathematics experienced quite a little difficul ty in making one of bis class com prehend the theory of limits. To make the theory more intelligi ble he resorted to the following illustration : "Now, Mr. C ," he proposed, "suppose you were 100 feet from a rabbit and you gave him chase and in the first minute you gained one-half of the intervening dis tance and likewise in the next nd in each succeeding minutes; at last if you were four inches from the rabbit, would you ever catch him ? Remember, you gain one Half of the intervening distance each minute." "If I was four inches from the rabbit," replied the student, "I would reach out and grab it" Philadelphia Ledger. Come to nee ns. We are waiting to do business with you. First told About God. j A village in Mexico of 1,(WM)' souls, not one of whom had heard of a God such is the story told by Rev. S. G. luinann, a minister of tho Christian church at Mont erey, says the Mexicau Herald. Nestling in a deep valley 23 miles from Saltillo and shut off from the rest of tho world by high a nd impassable cliffs, the pure In dians have livod for generations still worshiping their stone and wooden images and utterly un learned in everything pertaining to a Suprema Being, according to Mr. Inman, who has w ritten to friends in the city of Mexico concerning his strange find. San to Domingo is what the town is called, though why and where fore none of the elders of that vil lage could tell. It had been call ed that for generations and more and they did not know the insig nificance of the words. It 'vas by accident that Mr. In man stumbled on the quaint and curious village, hemmed in by precipitous crags. He was riding overland toward Saltillo when he came to a deep cut in tho moun tain which he followed and which led to the town of Santo Domingo. White men had been there before and the sight of the missionary was no novelty to the pure Indian descendants that thronged around his horse and offered their hospi tality poor, but the best they had. After partaking of it and ascer taining through the guide who accompanied him that the Indians knew nothing of a God or a crea tor of all things, the minister deemed it best to hold some sort of meeting and give spiritual in struction.. This could not be ac complished at the first trip and Mr. Inmau returned to Monterey, where arrangements are now be ing made to hold regular meet ings there and install some. Chris tianity into tho descendants of the aborigines. A native speaker will lecturo in their own tongue, which is pure Indian without ad mixture of Spanish words, and it is thought that they will soon ou familiar with the religion of Christianity as expounded by tho ministers of the Christian church. 11)1)0.
