Pleasant Social Occasions. Last Wednesday evening a num ber of friends and neighbors gave Mrs. Mary C. Winter and son Mapel a pleasant call quite unex pectedly. Akers and wife of Akersville. Mrs. C. D. Illxson spent a day last week at E verett. The base ball game between Breeze wood and Crystal Springs was played at Crystal Springs last Saturday, and the score was 20-13 in favor of Breeze wood. Howard Duvall and sister Cora spent last Sunday with Clara and Ivy Hixson. George Lodge and Blanche Morton attended the institute at Buffalo. Jonnie Hanks spent from. Sunday un til Tuesday with Amos Hixson's fam near Crystal Springs. A local institute was held at Buffa lo school house last Friday evening. A large crowd was present and the ex ercise of the evening much enjoyed bv all. Seeding is over and hauling buck wheat and making cider is now the or der. C. D. Hixson will finish cutting' corn in the near future. Don't get discour aged Charlie, for all will be well yet. Wm. Karns of Everett, made a bus iness trip through our valley last week buying apples tor W. W- McDaniel of Everett, and our farmers at present are busy marketing a lot of that pro duct, as we have a fair crop. Mrs. John M. Lodge and Frank Lodge have greatly improved the ap pearance or their homes by having them nicely painted. Mark Lodge, contractor. A number of our people attended the show at Everett last Monday. It is reported that a lot of smooth fakirs were there too. Contractor Williams has finished the erection of a fine wagon shed for Squire Hanks. Some people from here will attend the Fair at Hagerstown, this week. Ruth Hixson expects to visit her mother, Mrs. Winters, some time this week. A protracted meeting is in progress at Akersville M.
