Mrs. Kezia Johnston and daugh ter Miss Ella, left this morning for an extended visit among rela tives and friends in the West. 3. 0. Foster and daughter Miss Delia, of Enid, spent Saturday night with the family of his uncle Daniel Mock, in Todd. Mr. Daniel Kinehart and Diece Miss Edna McClain of Gracey, were pleasant callers at this of fice on Thursday of last week. George W. Sipe, of Denver, Col., and Loy Hollenshead, of Harrisonville, spent Saturday af ternoon in town on business. John 13. Runyan, wife and daughter Josephine, went over to Need more last Friday and re turned via the May Meeting at Sideling Hill Sunday. George W. Comere', a hustling lumber manufacturer, of Burnt Cabins, was in town on business last Saturday. With his recent purchases of timber land, he has work ahead for a long time. During a brief absence of Alex Kirk from his meat market just before noon yesterday, some one went in, and with a cleaver, pried open the money drawer and went away with the contents. An ar rest will probably follow soon. The,.new barn which H-my Truax is having erected ca his farm at Enid in Wells Valley, was raised last Thursday without ac cident. The architects and build ers are Messrs. Levi Truax and Charlie Deshong, and the work will rapidly bo pushed ahead to completion. Governor Pennypacker has ap proved ihe bill recommended by him in his annual message for the creation of a State constabul ary of four companies of fifty men each, with a captain and lieu tenant, the whole to bo in com mand of a superintendent, who will have his office located in Har risburg. The bill carries an ap propriation of $125,000. A man may be able to lnye the stars in a nail keg, aang the ocean on a rail fence to dry, put the sky to sleep in a gourd, unbuckle the girth of eternity and let the surt and moon out, but it he fails to assist his wife in cleaning the carpets and moving the furni ture at house cleaning time, he may have a hard time to escape the place which lies on the other sido of purgatory. The baptismal and funeral ser vices at the Sideling Hill Christ ian church Sunday were well at tended; but the rain caused some to seek shelter before reaching home. Mum ma being out on crutches, the paper does not say so or at least mine does not. Strait went Saturday aft ernoon to call on friends, but found no one at home. W. H. Pock, of Gem,, spent a few hours in town Monday. Rev. Lewis Chambers of Big Cove Tannery, spent from Friday until Monday among his many friends m town, and attended the Quarterly Meeting services in the Methodist church. Mr. Chambers preached in the M. E. church on Sunday evenug to a large and appreciative congrega tion. Although in his eighty sixth year, the mental faculties of brother Chambers are clear and sttong, and his sermon was a great treat to those who were foi tun ate to hear it.
