Layton, died at her home in Whips Cove, this county, Fri day evening, March 3, 1905. Her remains were laid in the ceme tery at Jerusalem Christian church on Monday following. Funeral services were conducted by her oastor, Rev. James R. Logue, who also stood among her. many friends and watched her slowly pass away. Mrs. Lay ton's maiden name was Blanche McKee, she being the only child of James jC. and Mary McKee of the Cove. She was born August C, 1880, and died March 3, 1905, being 24 years, 6 months, and 27 days. Mrs. Layton was married to Carey F. Layton four years ago last Christmas, and is survived by her husband and two children one, a sweet little girl named Reta, three years of age, and the other, an infant s ra 11 days old. Mrs. Layton proved herself a kind loving wife, and an affection ate mother, and trie i eople of the Cove deeply sym; ethize with the bereaved husbard and her par ents in the lossof their only child. Lizzie Watkms and Emory Baitb, of Coles Valley, are on the sick list. Mr. Nathan Barnett, post mas- tar at Hubelsville, with his, wife, was traveling in a spring wagon in Taylor township. Near Isaac Miller's Mr. Barnett took a faint ing spell, and while Mrs. Barnett attempted to hold him from fall ing out the wagon, the horse turn ed aside throwing both occupants out on the road side, injuring Mr. Barnett lacerating and bruising him. Dr. Campbell was called, and gave the necessary surgical aid, requiring several stitches in cut in Mr. Barnett's bead and face. Being an aged man, Mr. Barnett will not be able-to jBtand many such accidents. Last Wednesday evening, a few minutes before 6 o'clock, Squire James A. McDonough, of our town, attired like unto a pries't, or minister of the gospel, started from his office with a large law book under his arm, which looked like some of Blackstone's' writ ings were to be rehearsed.
