Mr. Eli Zearfoss of Franklin county, who is slightly demented and wIid imagines that he is a candidate for president, has been wandering through the upper end of this county for several weeks. The friends of Mr. Zearfoss are very anxious to have him return home; aud any one knowing of his whereabouts, will confer a favor by notifying this office by phone at our expense. . Since the above was put in type we learn that Mr. Zearfoss, who is a pensioner, and that a pension check ripens about this time, made his way back to Chambersburg on Monday, and on Tuesday was placed in the in sane department of the Franklin county almshouse. Cleve Crider and Loy McClain left for Altoona, having secured employment there, while B. F. Crider went to Pittsburg. Alex R. Edwards of Taylor tried to perform with the trick goat in I. O. O. F. Lodge here on Saturday evening. The goat got the better ot him. N. G. Cunningham is having the lower part of the new Hall here fixed up for a store room, and will move into it with his store at an early date. Dr. Wm. Hunter has gone to Reedsville, Pa., and located there in the pi actice of denistry. He is a skilful operator, and we recom mend him to the people where he has gone. Miss Alice Gnssinger arrived home on Friday from Stre,ator, Illinois, where she had gone from the conservatory of music at Val paraiso, Indiana, to visit her sis ter, Mrs. Julia Johnston. No. 4 school closed on the 8th, and on the 10th inst. Miss Letitia Peck left this "neck o' woods" for a visit to friends in Johns town. From there she will go to her home in Tnompson township. Mrs. Richard Alloway gave a party in honor of her husband's 83d birthday on Saturday even ing, which was so arranged that Richard was not aware of any thing unusual until he was di rected to go to the parlor and bring the children out when lo ! and behold ! to his amazement, the parlor was full of invited guests. Next on the program was a feast of the good things of the land, and afterward a host of useiul presents were handed over to Richard, causing many ex pressions of gratitude from Dick ey Boy.
