Much of the spread of conta gious diseases like smail pox, diphtheria, scarlet fever, &c, is the result of carelessness and ignorance. We sometimes won der why doctors can enter the homes of those who have those dreaded diseases and than visit other patients and return to their families, without carrying the disease, while the places contain ing the diseaso is so carefully quarantined against everybody else. Jl is because doctors and un dei takers know what to do that niakei it possible for them tocome in contact with such diseases, and not spread them. Of course once in a great while one may be careless; if so, he usually pays the pennlty. Funeral Director Boo.through the Everett Press tells what to do with the house, after the disease has disappeared. This destroys the germs in wallpaper, the cur tains, carpets, bedding, wearing apparel in fact everything that thus becomes fumigated. Mr. Boor says: To get the same re sults as with a generator, which will cost from 1.50 to 10.00. you only need a tin cup which will set on a stove, put in it j pint of For maldehyde in the liquid state, boil on a real hot stove, close the win dows and outside doors, open the inside doors and the fumes will penetrate the entire house. Stay in the room until your eyes water and you can hardly breathe, then get out and let the liquid boil away. It will only last 10 or 15 minutes; then you can venture in and if it is too strong to he comfortable, waitahttlelonger. TheFormalde hyde can be bought at any up-to-date drug store for a small sum of money and is the best disin fectant known to the Embalming profession. A Hoy's Wild Ride for Lile. "I have lound many nice peo ple here. My room is on the cor ner of Lyndon St. and Washing ton Ave. One of my room-mates is Alex Dunlap. It has a nice site. I walked across the Lackawanna river to West Scranton. We went to the Elm Park M. E. church Sabbath morning and evening. "This morning Alex Dunlap and I took a stroll down to Bigh Park, and upon our return to Main Street we walked into the First National Ban to get some change. I think they do some business, for there were about twenty business windows, be sides an office across one end. A cashier brought out an armful of bundles of bank notes the bunches being as thick as a bill is wide, and he had them piled on his arm like I would a load of stove wood. Another fellow stood outside, looked them over by No. of bunch, and placed them in a strong wooden box with a capac ity of about a bushel; but they didn't offer us any. We were pleased with the appearance of the institution, but have not deci ded to buy it. "Some think we may have to stay for two or three weeks yet. The board is fine, aud if I don't feel any worse than ct present, I can stand it all right. John D. Smith." Fearful Odds Against Him. .Bedridden, alone and destitute.
