LOS ANUELES, CALIPORNIA. Hinn, Extract! of Letter from Mr. M. L formerly of thin County. M.'L. tlanu formerly ot Lick ing Creek township, in a lettur to his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Allison S. Greenland, of Wells Valley, has this to say of the city of Los Angeles, California, where Mr. Iiaun is now visiting. "I have bflen bathing in the placid waters of the great Pacific ocean five times since i have been here.and enjoyed it very much. It is great sport to ju m p and go over the waves; or, if you think they are too big for that, dive through them, and come out on the other side. I have visited Sau Pedro, Re dondo and Port Los Angeles at all of which places, ocean going vessels land. At liodondo, I saw six schooners, one ship, and two steamships. Their principal bus iness is the transporting of lum ber from Oregon and Washing ton to southern California. This is a city of much commer cial activity, and is building up fast. In course of erection are large office buildings, nine and twelve stories high, and scores of residences both largo and small. Trolley improvements are be ing pushed, and all the suburban towns within a radius of twenty miles will soon be joined to this city by means of cheap transit. This is a great fruit growing section, and almost any kind of fruit can be grown, or at least, one sees all kinds in the markets, and all home grown. Los Angeles has the most beau tiful parks I have ever seen. Central Park in the center of the city is a veritable paradise. In it are large shade trees of differ ent varieties, Yuca palms, from thirty to forty feet in height, Date palms, banana trees (they do not bear fruit), and flowers in profusion. The green sod is close ly shaven, and symmetrically laid out walks lined with inviting seats, make it a resort for thous ands of people, who come here to rest, to read, or to while away the time. In addition to Central park, is West Lake park in the western part of the city covering about one hundred acres, half of which is a magnificent lake on which are sail boats and row boats, at your disposal if youhave the price. While the city and immediate surrounding country is a great flower bed winter and summer, snow is in sight on the high mountain tops in winter. Mechanics and day laborers are well paid here: Bricklayers 15.00 and 6.00 a day; carpenters, 3.50 to $4.00; plasterers, 5.00; common laborers, $2.00; team sters, $12.00 to $15.00 a week; farm hands $20 to $25 a month; motormen and conductors on the street cars, 22$ cents an hour. The Fulton county people who are here are well, and all doing well. DANULR IN FALL COLDS, Pall colds are liable to hang on all winter leaving the seeds of pneumonia, bronchitis or con sumption. Foley's Honey and Tar cures quickly and prevents serious results. It is old and re liable, tried and tested, safe and sure. Contains no opiates and will not constipate. Sale Register. Last Monday morning a party of corncutters who were on their way to Franklin "county stopped at the Dispensary de Seylar for a supply of Snakebite Remedy be fore plunging into the mountain fastness of the rugged Tuscaro ra. Emerging, a few minutes la ter, they started on up street with an air of confidence that would have terrified a wood chute. But, alas ! for human ex pectation. They had not proceed ed far when the shallow pocket of the mackintosh that contained the panacea gave up its trust, and in a moment the bottle lay upon the pavement in fragments and the savory fluid was being swallowed up by the thirsty pavement. Of course, they didn't do a thing but go back and get some more, which they put into deeper pockets before they got to the top of the mountain. BRONCHITIS FOR TWENTY YEARS.
