I'll climb Unit golden stairway, Till 1 reach tho height of fame, And when I reach the top-most round I'll have an honored name. No matter how the way may seem, Nor how dim the light may shine, lint our path in time may beam With the light In course of time. Oh ! young men, I pray thee, Make your way so bright That your descendants may followyou In the paths of right. We know not when the day may come Hut it sure to come in time; So why not make this life of ours A life of great sublime. Do not think me conceited, In saying these few lines; For often I've repealed To younger men in time. Some young men go unheeding, Throughjthis bright world of ours, And from the right path receding, Go to the drunkard's bower, (.lh ! this disdainful habit, That's brought ruin to their souls, May thoy shrink from the filthy habit, And begin again as whole. May some young man heed this, Who has lost his precious years, And now resolve to repent of it Repent with bitter tears. Oct. 10, 1W2. M. S. N. S. NATURAL ANXIETY. THOUGHT HUNTER A TURKEY. George H. Buffington of Me chanicsburg, was shot in mistake for,a turkey while hunting in the mountain near Dean's Gap. He had secreted himself along a path turkeys were said to frequent. Thinking his positiin not as good as oue nearby he shifted to an other spot. A gunner some dis tance away, noticing the commo tion in the bushes and seeing a moving figure, mistook Buffing- ton for a turkey and pulled the trigger. The contents of the gun struck Buffington in both legs, midway between knee and hip, inliictiug very painful wounds. Five of tho shot, almost as large as buckshot, entered the right log, which is the most badly in jured, and two the left leg. NEVER ASK ADVICE.
