Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vaughn

of weeks with Mr. and Mrs. D. E.

The Reformed congregation
have had a furnace placed in the
, cellar of theirfchurch and will
hereafter in cold weather enjoy
the luxury of a warm church
without the unsightly stove.
Their furnace is arrauged for
either coal or wood.
Tiie Autietam Paper Company
will exhibit at the Hagerstown
fair the largest roll of paper in
the world made for newspaper
use. It was made for a paper in
Australia. It is 87 inches 7 f lot
3 inches wide and weighs up
ward of 15,000 pounds. The lar
gest paper made for use in the
United States is 7S inches wide.
On Monday Levi Keefer of Ayr
township had his team in the
mutiU.;.). The wugoti became
fast against a small tree which
was cut down, but in falling it
threatened to crush Mr. Koefer's
horses, whereupon he threw him
self between the falling tree and
the team to try to save them, and
was severly injured.
The teachers of Tod township
held their first local institute of
the year last Friday evening at
Rummers schoolhouse. Thirteen
teachers, together with theCoun
ty Superintendent, were present,
The program was well arranged
and the topics were well discuss
ed. Four teachers from Tod, five
from Ayr, three from Belfast
and Prof. Cress from McCon-
uellsburg represented the teach
ing force present. Mr. Don Mor
ton, the teacher, presided and

Lewis Cloveuger and Miss Carrie
Bivens, both of Ayr township,
were married. They expect to
begin housekeeping in the near
future.

last Wednesday, was she thrown
from her horse and her elbow put
out of place.
Alhino school Is doing nicely
under the management of W. W.
Peck. Will knows how to teach
the boys, and we hope to see his
efforts crowned with great suc
cess. We have been listening patient
ly for the whistle of the locomo
tive on the new railroad, but we
have not heard it yet. Judging
by the commotion that was in the
air, the cars should have passed
here sjmetime ago.

Owing to the illness of its
