To every patriotic citizen of Mc Ctiunellsbury and vicinity : Me morial Day is the most sacred of the year, and its proper observ ance, one of the nations strong est safe guards. It is the uation's E is tor when the people are sum moned to the patriot's tomb not with power to stir the encamp ment of the dead, hut by tho mys tic chords of memory to resurrect the virtues that adorned their lives. It is tho nation's Sabbath when at the shrine of Patriotism all creeds are forgotten and we re ceive into our hearts a new inspi ration to duty. A benediction day to all who observe it in its true spirit aud meaning. No more beautiful or impress ive scene could bo wit nessed than that of a redeemed nation ceas in'g from its daily toil aud gather ing around the graves of its de fenders bearing offerings of (low ers aud giving suitable expres sion of the love and gratitude which a great people feel toward those who gave their lives iu de-fi-nse of their country. To every soldier of the Union it i . a day tilled with sweet and pre cious memories. Unlike the dead of other wars, tho memory of our comrades never fades. Though unseen by mortal eyo, they still walk by our side, and their place in our hearts remains untilled. We rejoice as the day approach es, and iu their diminishing num ber lovingly deck with flowers the multiplying graves of comrades. Iu broken columns and with eu feobled step we still carry the Hag they loved so well and march to tho same music to which their loy al feet wero attuned, our hearts pulsing with joyous pride, as we realize that tho memory of those who fell in defeuce of freedom and right is immortal. May the myriad strea ms, as they go laugh ing aud sparkling on their joyous journey to the sea, carry some for-get-tne nots to those who sleep un disturbed in its restless bosom. Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic and kindred organiza tions and all citizens who sympa thize with the spirit of the day arc cordially invited to unite with us in the proper observance of Mem orial Day. Let the sous and daugh ters of all soldiers show their presence on that day. The superintendents of tho va rious Sablialh schools of McCon nellsburg are asked to bring the children out on that day, and to march with us to the graves of our dead heroes and strew some (low ers there in remembrance of the Elliott Kay, Commander IviugPost No. 'M7. Some of the best milkers and butter producers could not wiu a prize at shows if they were judged by "points" instead of testing them at the pail. Tho first-prize cattleatfat stock shows do not make the best carcasses after they have been slaughter ed. At a Nebraska fair last year the dairymen in community organiz ed aud sent their best butter to bo given away as samples, on crackers, as well as distributing circulars describing how the but ter was made aad tho dairies managed. The result is that at the present time the demand is greater than the supply, and at prices higher than tho regular market quotations. "77 n Dyspepsia Cure Digests what you eat.
