Last Saturday about noon, Town Hill seemed to bo fired in three or four places about the same time; and, it being very dry and windy, the fire spread rapid ly. Constable S. C. Layton, gathered a party of men who went into tho mountain and worked bravely; and it was not until about two o'clock Sunday morning that it was brought un der control, but it was not until Sunday forenoon that the fire was entirely extinguished.
