Kobinsonville, last Friday to attend
the funeral of Henry Ward, Mrs.
Smith' father. Mr. Ward had been
sick for about a year. He was aged
7 I years.
Mrs. Mina Hentlershot was surprip
ed on her arrival at homo last Satur
day after a week's visit, to find some
forty friends and relatives thereto
celebrate her 50th birthday. After
partaking of the bountiful dinner that
bud been prepured, the ninny nitc
presents were laid upon the table,
and in the evening all went home
thinking it was a day well spent.

V., was calling on our merchant,
S. E. McKee, Wednesday.
S. F. Whetstone, of Mench, was
seen in our town last week.

munity for some time. They
will decrease the average attend
ance of our schools considerably.
Dorsey Harnett has been un
der the Doctor's care the past
week. We are glad to note that
he is improving.
Death has again visited ouj

our aged and highly respected
neighbor, Mrs. Mary Duvall. In
terment, Monday, February 12th
at 2 p. in., at the Vidley M. E.
church.
Grandmother Sprowl, who has
been seriously ill for sometime,
we are glad to note, is much bet
ter. Our hustliug butcher V. D.
Scheuck, has erected a large
slaughter house on his premises
at this place.
SIPES MILL.
Bennett H. Mellott is very ill
with diphtheria.
Mrs. Edith Mellott litis been
sick for some time. She has lost
the sight of one eye, and the oth
er is very weak. It is feared
she will be entirely blind.
Mrs. Efho Wink, who has been
ailing for a few days, is better at
present.
The teachers' local institute on
last Friday night was largely at
tended. Six teachers present,
and questions aud queries were
ably discussed and intelligently
answered. The boys of Sipes
Mill furnished string music for
the occasion.
Miss Inez Akers, of Akersville,
has been visiting the family of
Mrs. M. Akers for several days.
Iua is very jolly aud a crack
marksman. Tramps, beware!
Quito a number of young folks
were delightfully entertained at
the home of Mrs. M. Akers on
last Saturday evening.
E. N. Akers, accompanied by
M. P. Barton, of Akersville, vis
ited friends and relatives in Ev
erett last week. E. N. also spent
a few days in Brush Creek.

Messrs. Morris Brendle and
W. W. McKinnie, two of Green
castle's most prominent young

Cove last week. '
Among the sick ones in our
valley are Rev. S. B. Houston,
wife, and daughter Mary. We
are glad to letiru that they are on
a fair way to recovery.
Ralph Johuston, who has spent
the past six weeks ut the home of
his father, J. W. Johnston, has
just retnrued to Allegheny coun
ty where ho lias found employ
ment near Bakorstow n.
Mrs. W. R. McDowell, of Leh
niaster, is circulating among her
many friends in Fulton county.

The coming election is the talk
of tho day.
We are glad to note the speedy
recovery of Miss Mellott, of Ak
ersville, who was seriously hurt
by being thrown over a precipice
near the mill at this place some
time ago.
G. W. Hixson and family were
the guests of Grant Hixson's on
Sunday last.
Messrs. E. J. and A. C. Clev
enger expect to return to Pitts
burg in the near future.
The institute held at Buffalo,
on Friday night last was a deci
ded success. The literary work
rendered by some of the pupils
that eveniug shows what is being
done at Buffalo this winter. First
topic discussed by the teachers,
"How do you teach Physiology?"
It was discussed by G. A. Duvall,
Harvey Sharpe, and others.
The second was, "The Elements
of Success," which wasdiscussed
by G. I. Covalt, and others. The
third was, "Little Things in the
School-room," discussed byE. N.
Lodge aud others. Six teachers
out of the seven in our township
were present. The next one
will be held at Locust Grove
school in three weeks.
M rs. J. C. Burton who has been
ill for some time, wo are glad to
note, is speedily recovering.
