We wish to speak a word of commendation for our present County Auditors, Oliver S. Bender, Thomas R. Crinnnins, and 1). F. ! McCarty. These men have just completed the Audit doing the I work in about one half the time heretofore required, Canning Air. One week afeo last Thursdiy, a i short, chunky man with a red, | curly mustache and wearing a j Prince Albert coat of the Icliabob Crane pattern walked slowly , (brought tin'streets of Laporte and -sniffed the invigorating mountain I air. We noticed him several times lading in a very mysterious man ner and were greatly mystified, but now the secret is out and we are going to put the public next. It seems that the gentleman in question was at one time a college professor of considerable renown, w hose brain had become weakened by constantly endeavoring to in vent an apparatus by which the invigorating mountain air of some high altitude could be stored up in winter time in small cans, about the si/.e and shape of a milk can, shipped to the city and in the sum mer place in the hot, sultry rooms of tlie metropolis, where it would be allowed to slowly escape from the can cooling the hot atmosphere and filling the room with this health giving air. Someone, who had been in La-1 porte or lives here now informed I him that the county seat of Sulli- ! van c unity would be the proper place to get his air, so he made a ! trip to Laporte. Scout-ted around a j little and returned to New York j City well pleased with our brand ! of air. where lie w ill organize a stock company: and in all probata-! lity. the apparatus, cans and per- i fessor will arrive here iu a week] or so.
