Mrs. Charles Ilartzig, of Cherry, died Tuesday at the age of (!4 years. 10 months and'J days. Mrs. Hart zig's maiden name was Amanda Thrasher, she was a daughter of Benjamine Thrasher one of the early settlers of Cherry township. Mrs. Ilartzig is survived by her husband, one son, Harry B. Hart zig, of Mildred, and one daughter, Mrs. Walter Eichcnlatib at home. The funeral will be held Thursday. Onshore Gazette. Stockholders Meeting. Johnson of Lopez, died at three o'clock Tues day morning at the Packer hospital lat Kay re from meningitis. The I body was brought to Lopez Tues day afternoon and the funeral held ' at his home in that place. Is Chief of Police. The many friends of (Jeorge W. Magargel ol' McKees Hocks will he interested to learn that lie has re signed his position with the Pressed Steel Car Coinpanv of that place in order to accept the appointment of Chief of Police of Stowe township, the, surburban district of Pittsburg in which his home is located. Mr. Magargel, who was for merly of Muncy Valley, where his parents still live, is well qualified for his new position. lie served six years iu the I . S. Army, four years iu the Pennsylvania State Police and in February would have completed two years as a coal and iron police. The fact that the ap pointment was made while his residence in that locality was yet so new is a high tribute to his character and ability. His last visit to the county was made in July of this year, and Lis oldest son is now at Sonestown. the home of his wife, formerly Miss Myrtle Edgar, for several years a teacher in the public schools of Davidson township. Mr. Magargel's new position is for three years and the general opinion of all who know him in police work is that lie will make gxidand leave the township the better for his administration. These meetings are free and open to all, and we have no doubt the farmers of this county will avail themselves of the advantages to be gained by attending these meetings. Notice.
