Austin llein, a Polish miner at Lope/., fell from the railroad bridge over the Loyal Sock creek at that place :>"> feet to the ground below and from all appearances when the body was found dying instantly. Stealing news or the act of a newspaper in copying from another paper without giving due credit is considered by newspaper men a very disreputable practice, still there are a great many papers that do so ami it is not necessary togo out side of the state to liml a good specimen of these parasites of news paperdom. A Runaway. Mrs. Dennis Finan, son James and Miss Ruth of Lopez were re turning from Dushore last Saturday evening, when the horse became frightened and ran away, throwing 1 all the occupants out of the buggy and injuring them considerable. Mrs. Finan will be under the doc tor's care for some time. The buggy was reduced to kindling wood. George Heckner Held on Charge of Murder. I.usi Wednesday, GooPgt! Hectc-J ner, the young Polander of Hills-1 grove, who was arrested for the murder of Mary Slieppa was given his second hearing before 'Squire C'aven at this place. The follow ing witnesses were introduced by the Commonwealth : Julia Slieppa, Charles Mc Bride, ilenry Messi, Joseph Ptterii, Hurley Long, Reno Green, John OrJiil, Kaliegh Bien licli. Floyd Keeney and others. 'The Commonwealth produced evidence that George Heckner and Mary Slieppa were intimately ac quainted with each other and that on several occasions t hey were seen together on the little foot bridge that spans the Loyal Sock creek near which the dead body of the girl was found, lleckner is a fire man at the Hillsgrove tannery, working from 12:00 noon until midnight. He was seen talking with Mary Slieppa in the. lire room at the tannery on the night of the tragedy. His whereabouts on that night are not definitely known as his room mate, Joe Puerri was con siderable under the influence of liquor and does not have a clear idea of what was going on. After hearing the evidence, 'Squire C'aven decided that it was a case for the Grand Jury to pass upon at December term of Court, Heckner was committed to jail. Charter Notice.
