ESTATE,
Dushore,
Pennsylvania.
This year is the first in a century
in which no county officers were
' elected on the first Tuesday in No-
I j vember in Pennsylvania. This
was because of the adoption of the
constitutional amendments last lall
which provides for the election of
( state officers in even numberd years
and county officers in odd numbered
' years. Next year will be an odd
number.
The pupils of the third, fourth
■ and fifth grades of the Laporte
school procured ballots and on the
afternoon of election day voted.
Twenty voted and out of that
number eighteen were straigh Dem
ocratic. They were all very
' familiar with the ticket and its
meaning and needed no assistance
in makring it. The rest of the
other party seemed to think that
the man from "Blue Point Bay"
, has a good chance for some work
in Laporte.
Social Dance.
A social dance an 1 oyster supper
' will be held at Bondman's Sones
town Hotel on Wednesday evening
Nov. 23. Don't forget, Thauks

The silver loving cup awarded to
the Laporte primary school at the
County fair, by the Sullivan Coun
ty Agricultural Society, arrived
this week and is displayed in the
front window of the First National
1 Bank. While the cup itself is a
valuable and beautiful ornament,
it is really the effort and persistent
work of teacher and scholars- the
source of its bestowal, that makes
the true worth of this award. The
fathers and mothers of Laporte
may be justly proud of their young
sters.
