The delisiqut nt j is James Dailey, of Danville, an ■ ironworker, who is three years in \ arrears. The arrest was caused by the retiring tax collector, who insists that this is the first of several hun dred arrests that will be made. The Mokoma Company last summer put in a small private system to supply their cottages and were it not for this available source of water sup ply now being given free gratis it is hard to conjecture what our inhabi tants woidd now be doing for theii water supply, as nearly all wells and available sources in and about the town, with tin? exception of the cold spring, have yielded to the severe drouth as in other sections. With succeeding seasons as deplor ably dry as this is proving, the new water works project becomes imper ative as it is the only source Laporte has to depend upon. A scientist has established the fact that hens have memory and reason. We never liked the term '•hen" as applied to the lovelier hall of the human family, but we now see one more reason for its appro priateness. Every married man knows that his wife has a memorj far outrunning the effects of the acts of the poor misguided male. As tor reasoning well, a man can't reason the way a woman does, that is certain. Candidate for District Attorney, F. W. Meylert. made the Forks ville Fair his head-quarters, meet ing liis many friends and receiving assurance of his success at the polls. If you are a kicker and see the shadows of failure in every thine that is proposed to help the town, for heaven's sake go into some se cluded place and kick your own shadow on the day bank, and give the men who are working to build up the town a chance.
