Harry Roan, the little son of Mrs. Sadie Roan who is visiting at the home of W. C. Mason, on Thursday morning fell off the porch at Mr. Mason's home and broke his arm. Dr. Randall was absent from home when the acci dent occured. Fortunately Dr. Voorhees of Sonestown came into town in his auto just then and he was called into set the broken bone. William 11. Rogers has a force of about twenty carpenters at work at Lake Mokoma. The new pavilions are nearly completed. The bath houses are well under way. The boat landings are being extended to make room for the additional boats ret ent iy placed upon the lake by the com pany. The W. and N. B. No set event of the present week may lie anticipated with keener news relish than the vote which may be taken in the Senate Friday on the income tax amendments to the Tariff bill. Second only to the adoption of the rejection of this im portant tax feature of the pending legislation will be the interest in the alignment of Senators with ti e Re publican "Regulars," on the one hand, opposed by the Democrats and a doubtful number of "Insurgent" Republicans. Senators Dai ley and Cummins, representing, respectively, the Democrats and such Republicans as are determined upon an income tax amendment will probably be de termined upon an income tax, ap pear confident that their compro mise amendment will be adopted but before hour of voting is reached strong pressure will be brought to bear in opposition, upon such Re publicans as in this matter are allied with the Democrats. The prelimin ary skirmishes earlier in the week will whet the news appetite for the feast of-Friday. The income tax amendment will probably be defeat ed by a very sniali majority, but at that there is a chance that it may pass. There is enough doubt in the situation to cause considerable in terest in the outcome. LaPorte Township Audit. K. F.
