Null, was in the act of extinguishing the lights, the large chandelier which holds many oil la iips broke from its fastenings and crashed to the floor. Rev. It was not discovered by the track men and when the evening south bound train came along it was on ly by the presence of mind of the engineer that a serious wreck was averted. The landslide was just at a curve where it could not be seen by the engineer until the en gine was nearly upon it, and too late to stop before strikingjj|the rock, but by reversing the engine to the full limit the force of the contact was broken and the engine was only derailed. The railroad runs along a steep precipice at this*point, jand it was fortunate that the engineer did not loose his head wlieh he saw the danger.
