Pennsylvania will be represented in the Taft cabinet by three of her native born sons, namely, Hon. Philander C. Knox, Secretary of State, at present a resident thereof and Frank MacVeagh, Secretary of the Treasury from Chicago, but born and raised in Chester county, and George \V. Wicker-ham, Secre tary of War, of New York, born in Pittsburg, and later a practitioner of law in Philadelphia. J., last wlfek j on an indictment of manslaughter charging the beating to death of an insane man in the New Jersey State asylum for the insane where young Ballentine was employed as a keeper. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. The young j man is a son of Rev. George Bal lentine, at one time pastor of the Laporte Baptist church, and a brother of Prof. J. Ballehtiue, a former principal of the Sonestown High school. The many friends of these worthy people are glad to i know their relative was not guilty of the charge preferred against him, A very pleasant surprise party was given to Mrs. L. it. Bussler iat her home in Eagles Mere last Friday night, !>y the many friends who regretted to have them move to Laporte, An enjoyable evening was spent and well wishes extended to them.
