Another proof that it pays to advertise in the New Item, A number of family reunions have been advertised to occur during the month of August, and a number have already been held. These an nual affairs are among the pleas ant events in the history of a county. There are families in Mull ivan county whose membership is large, and when these get together they present a spectacle of which they themselves and tIKS county may well feel proud. Where hun dreds of persons can lay claim to to have decended from one or more of the early settlers of the county they have a l ight to feel that they have an important part in making local history. These annual gatherings are man aged in a business like manner. Oflicers are chosen and an inter change of experiences had which are interesting in the highest degree. Speeches are delivered and a social time enjoyed by old ami young. The coming together of the decend ants of the early settlers in this county is an occasion for the greet ing of friends and relatives who have not met during the year, and many are the pleasant words of welcome which are exchanged by the partici pants. Year by year the family re union becomes more enjoyable. The Lock Haven State Normal School sent out a large wlass of young men and women at its last com mencement. Their excellent train ing thoroughly equipped them for the position of teachers and it. is gratifying to know that they were al fortunate in securing schools. Its patronage during the year just closed greatly exceeded any previous year. Address the principal for illustrated catalogue.
