Conferees on the widows pension bill, at Washington, reached an agreement on Monday by adopting the iiill practically in the form passed by the house. It increases from 88 to? 12 per month the pen sions of widows of soldiers ol the Mexican, Indian and Civil, and will increase the pension list about S12,00(i,000. The annual season for brook trout opened Thursday and closes with the night of July 31. The streams are in better condition than they have been for several years at the opening of the season, on account of the ice leaving, the streams early. Henry Kratis last week butchered a steer which dressed over 1200 lhs. When brought to town from the farm of William Warren in Forks Town ship, the animal tipped the beam at j 2,200 lhs. The children of the Odd Fellow's ! orphanage at Suhbury spent a week giving entertainments, during which time they won many laurels for ! themselves, and added the band some sum of one thousand dollars to I the fund for the new building at the orphanage. Wherever the children gave entertainments they were most kindly greeted and received plaud its from large audiences.
