Pa., would not under ordi nary circumstances constitute a notable event; but as the bank is organized under the auspices of the State Grange, is owned awl man-' aged by Grangers, and is designed to be the first of a series of Grange batiks, itsopeningis very interest ing. It seems an anomaly, how ever, that it should be a national bank. Eor commercial purposes, that form of organization is very 112 suitable, but the constant com . plaint against it has been that the law does not allow national banks to lend on real estate, and it is real - estate and not commercial paper ' that farmers have to offer. Where banks are organized specifically to . accomodate a farming community • hey are usually of the general form t of mortgage, or agricultural co-op ' rative banks. -Exchange. J.
