Blackbirds may now be legally killed in the state ot Pennsylvania for the first time since 1878. A pro tective law was passed at that time which has been in force ever since, until the last legislation enacted its general game bill. In addition to the blackbird the open season commenced on Friday, September 1, for these: Railbird, reed bird, dove, sand piper, tatler, curlew, or any other shore bird; Wilson or Jack snipe, wild goose, wild thick, brant, swan, coot and mud-hen. The open season will continue un til January 1, in all cases except that of the jack snipe; the season tor t hat bird extends until May 1. The complete protection was re ] moved from blackbirds by the last legislature because the birds arebe | ing killed in the south annually in great numbers. In many parts of the country below the line the black bird is regarded as a pest and is shot and allowed to rot upon the ground. In Pennsylvania the flocks of the birds frequently become it nuisance. Those birds that are shot in this state are not to tie allowed to rot upon the ground, for the Pennsylvania hunt ers regard the blackbird as a tooth some morsel. Progressive employers are always j looking for the exceptional man or j woman, the one who can step out j from the crowd and do things in an : original way, who can economize in j processes, who can facilitate business. They are always looking for the ear marks of leadership, of superior abil ity. They are looking for the pro gressive employee with new ideas j; who can help them to be more oi a success. They know very well that ' they can get any number of uutoma- ' tons—multitudes who will do a thing j, just well enough to keep their places | but they are looking lor originality, j individuality, for up to date methods. j They want employees who can put ! things through with vigor and deter-1 initiation, without lagging, whining, j apologizing or asking questions. I Nothing can bar the advancement ofj employees of this kind. Nobody can i keep them down. If by chance! someone above you is actually trying i to prevent your promotion for sellish 1 reasons, it ought to be very flattering to you to know that he is trying to keep you back, and should make you all the more determined togo ahead. It is a pretty good indication that there i.-i some reason for Ids fear, and that you have material in you for a better place.
