dropped to within 111 degrees of zero
weather at this place.
Frank Magargle of Muney Valley
and A. 1.. Sheets of Sonestown, were
among a party of hunters who re
cently killed three deer in two days
in the vicinity of Bicketts.
Miss Mary Eddy who is engaged
iu teaching school in Bradford eoun
ity, spent Thanksgiving with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Eddy,
at this place.
The Bcv. Eugene A. Heim is at
tending the Diocesan Convention
which ineetsjat Lancaster, this week.
There will be no service, therefore,
in the Episcopal church next Sun
day.
It is rumored that the old com
pany store building at Berniee lias
been rented by Scran ton parties
and machinery for the manufacture
of silk will be installed as soon as
the necessary changes can be made
on the building.
Joseph Thomson, formerly of
Berniee, was struck by a train at
Morris Park L. I.and fataly injured
Wednesday, lie died in the hospit
al an hour after the accident. Mr.
Thomson had many warm friends |
in Sullivan county who regret to ;
learn of his untimely death.
Archbishop llyan, in his Thanks- j
giving sermon in Philadelphia, said, j
"This great, glorious, and brave,
country has for its Chief Executive ;
a fearless young chieftain who does ,
his duty without fear or favor to i

do not ask and more we could not
expect." So say we all of us.
Civil Engineer W. C. Mason, ltob
ert Mason and Henry Carpenter left
on Saturday for Wvalusing where
they will join the surveying corps
engaged in the construction of the
new railroad -*oon to pass through
Forksville.
11. C. Haws and Miss Jessie Luth- ;
er were married at Harford, Conn.,
on Nov. 10. The bride is formerly
of Sullivan county, being a daughter
or B. K. Luther of Ehlredsville. j
The groom's home is in Vermont.
Both have been employed in the
state hospital at Middletown, Conn.
They will make their home at Bos
-ton.
The Independent Telephone (Jo.
of New Albany, began the construct
ion of a line to Overton, on Tuesday
of last week. They will be connect
ed at Overton with the Independent
lines from Forksville to that place.
