H Mead A Happy Event. <>n the evening of the isth, it be ing the fiftieth winkling anniversary of Mr. anil Mrs. N. Meail, a large number of invited guests gathered at their home on West Main street to ofli r congratulations and join in celebrating the happy omirance. After the guests, numbering up wards of one hundred, had assem bled, Mr. and Mrs. Mead took seats beneath an arch of evergreen on which was placed the words lettered in white flowers, "Married f»0 years." There they listened to ap propriate remarks by lie v. S. Jf. Engler. They were the pictures of happy old age, and reading from the page of history stamped upon their brows showed that the hand of time had lain lightly and gently there. Their cheerful countenances gave assurance that life had been worth the living, and turning the search light into their hearts was found abiding peace. With all these com forts of life they joyfully received tribute* of love and kind wishes of friends for happiness through all t heir remaining years. The comfortable home was turned over to the possession of the guests whom were all made to feel many times welcome. A luncheon was ! served before the friends departed and with all the efforts made by hungry mortals to clean the festive board of delicious refreshments of endless variety, the assault proved hopeless and distressing to those with large appetites. Beautiful mus ical selections on the piano and violin by Hev. E. lleim and Misses May MuHley and Olive Harrows added much charm to the occasion. Many valuable and useful gifts was present ed to the host and hostess. Friends from distant points joined in this memorable celebration so greatly enjoyed.
