Many people help to carry out the program in Sunday school and church as regularly as Sunday comes, for the sole purpose of edging tliem selves into society and hiding their every day and nightly sins from the world. This class of people are dangerous and where such actions are known to exist, should be halted by the better element of the church. In case this class do not interfere, they must be considered on equal looting with their cssociates. A. S. Wagner architect of Willhmsport, came up to Laporte by request, on Monday to inspect the work of the courthouse founda tion. It was leported that tlie wall was being slighted by the workmen. On inspecting, Air. Wugner con demned a small portion of the founda tion and tho balance he guuriintccil would stand a hundred years. That part which he condemned was made good on Tuesday. Mr. Wagner will visit the works once or twice a week hereafter. | Lawrence Hros. received the fol - lowing letter from Warner Jt Kelt-1 ineyer arehit.e s, on Tuesday.] WuxiAMxroHT, Pi., Ariui.33 him LIWHtCMK limw, lupolte. | 4 OKNTLKMt*: —You ti l| »tone that k„ into nu.l U f,. • truitlon of the fouuililioti and other wall* for the Sullivan ( (•„.,« (under construction with you mid now Wini? built itt I ipoort. Ir. seems that lloke Smith is wedding his axe with an unusual vigor upon the pensioners of Colum bia county. John Brink of Sugar loaf who was receiving a pension of sl2 00 a month has been dropped; Jeremiah Vansickle of the same township who has been receiving $8 00 a mouth has been dropped; Joseph Miller of Greenwood, who was drawing $12.00 a mouth has been dropped,—Bloomsburg Repub lican. Robert Storinont, while clearing off his Mokoma lots one day last week, found a genuine Indian Toma hawk, Ho exploded a charge of dynamite underneath a large stump and in the debris he picked up the curious instrument. Mr. Storinont thinks it must have been buried in the earth underneath this stump a foot or more. A history of this hatchet would be very interesting. Among the attornies from a dis tance in attendance at special court on Monday and Tuesday, were: John J. Ilea id on, C La Rue Munson, both of Williamsport and P. C. De- Witt of Towanda. The Dushore attornies, viz : R. J. Thomson, B. S. Collins, J. G. Scouten. J. 11. Cronin aud E. J. Mullen, were all present. ESTELLA ITEMS. Mrs. Hiram Osier is still on the sick list. Mrs. F. A. Boyle who has been very sick during • he past ten months is now slowly convalescing. The many friends of Mrs. H. W. The necessary amount of slosk J?.*i,050 has all been j taken and the building committee will immediately begin work. The site selected is a plot West of the picnic ground, on lands of F. A.
